YOU WILL NEED NO TEXT BOOK & NO SPECIAL PROGRAM (Only Microsoft Paint that comes with any Windows) Mac users can find they have a similar paint also.
We draw and design using the
Microsoft
Paint program and the Mouse.
No
not that one but any that looks more like this one
.
I have just this year found that an ‘optical mouse’ is much smoother to use, but many students and I have for years done just fine with the regular mouse. I drew the following scene using only a regular mouse and mspaint & if you will follow along with me you can learn to draw your scenes also.

Here is what one student had to say about using the mouse:
“Thanks so much, it's been a great experience. You were right, after drawing with the mouse, drawing with normal pencil and paper has taken on a whole new life. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot too. That sometimes is a rare combination.”
Note:
In order to send your art works to me you need to save them as either .jpg or .gif format.
Students must learn to use the Microsoft Paint program ON THEIR OWN! Just "PLAY" with it and all the tools. It is a very powerful and useful program that you will not have to buy.
NEW!
Great Help with your Paint Tools! All of you MUST VISIT THIS SITE & LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR PAINT
before your class starts!
http://www.lkwdpl.org/classes/MSPaint/paint.html
I HAVE DESIGNED THIS COURSE SO YOU LEARN BY DOING the ART WORKS I ASSIGN YOU & SENDING THEM IN TO ME AS ATTACHMENTS ON YOUR E-MAILS.
I WILL THEN WRITE AND DRAW CORRECTIONS AND IDEAS ON YOUR ART WORKS TO HELP YOU GET THEM BETTER. I ATTACH THEM TO E-MAILS SENT BACK TO YOU.
(Often this is done as many as several times for each work!)

YOU MUST RE-DO THE WORK AND TRY ALL THE CORRECTIONS I HAVE ADDED every time TO HELP YOU MAKE IT BETTER. THIS IS HOW I GRADE YOU!!!!! ON HOW WELL YOU LEARN TO DO THE ASSIGNMENT-----NO MATTER IF WE DO IT OVER SEVERAL TIMES. YOU LEARN EACH TIME SOMETHING ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT, AND THE END RESULT IS WHAT I WILL GRADE. (IF YOU HAVE DONE ALL THE CORRECTIONS ALONG THE WAY!!!!
SO KEEP RE-DOING THE WORKS UNTIL WE GET THEM AS GOOD AS WE CAN TOGETHER, AND THEN THEY ARE GRADED AND YOU ARE SENT THE GRADE.THERE WILL BE SOME TEST ART WORKS THAT I WILL LET YOU KNOW I WILL NOT HELP YOU ON, BUT THEY ARE VERY FEW.
YOU MUST CONTACT ME AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL BE COUNTED AS ABSENT & FOUR UNEXCUSED ABSENTS WILL RESULT IN MY DROPPING YOU FROM THE COURSE.
SO LET ME KNOW BY PHONE IF YOU HAVE COMPUTER PROBLEMS AND YOU CAN DO THE WORK BY HAND AND MAIL OR BRING IT IN ON PAPER. (I have seen some good works by students who had their computer crash and did it by hand. So there are no excuses for not getting your works in, even if your computer fails. You just have to let me know, and I will work with you any way we can figure out to keep you working & HAVING FUN!!!
So once again, thanks for taking my course and I look forward to helping you learn to draw & or design in this fun new way !
Your instructor,
C.J. Cavanaugh, Jr.
ccav@tjc.edu Is my regular E-mail, but be sure all course work is done with Apache Online to me.
